Brigit Hurst

Ceramist and Visual Arts (High School and Middle School)

Brigit Hurst is an accomplished art educator and professional ceramicist with many years of experience in both fields.  A valued member of TASIS since 2003, Brigit has helped shape the school’s rich learning environment and its commitment to excellence, respect, and understanding among students of all nationalities. Known for her purposeful teaching style, strong professionalism, and deep passion for art and design, she supports students of diverse backgrounds and language abilities, fostering meaningful engagement and inspiring learning experiences.

In addition to her work at TASIS, Brigit teaches adult learners at her Studio-Gallery in Locarno, continuing to develop and share her mastery of ceramic art while adapting to evolving artistic and educational trends.

Before focusing on education, she exhibited her work in Switzerland and internationally, participated in juried competitions, and received a grant from the IKEA Foundation to study ceramics at the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Institute in Japan, which hosts an Artist-in-Residence program for ceramic artists worldwide.
