Don't miss seeing the results of two years of hard work by the IB Visual Arts students!
TASIS Students visit Robert Capa Exhibition
TASIS photography students and faculty visited the Photographica FineArt exhibition which included a selection of vintage Robert Capa photographs. The exhibition "War Stories" tells, through Capa's eyes, wars and international tensions that took place from 1936 to 1954.
(From the gallery website) "Photographica FineArt Gallery was founded in 2009 by Marco Antonetto, to create an exhibition space intended solely to the photographic image as a means of artistic expression. The gallery alternates exhibitions of the great masters of photography and promising young and sometimes compares the work of each other in order to try to form the collector or simple visitor a concept of photographic aesthetics."
Earlier this term TASIS photography students were able to view the Sebastião Salgado's Genesis exhibition in Milan and also a small, but impressive Werner Bischof exhibition in Chiasso.
The Fine Art Faculty Art Exhibition
This exhibition will be up for February and March in the Horst Durrschmidt Gallery found in the Ferit Sahenk Arts Center.
Winter Photography Show
Each winter the TASIS photography classes feverishly print and prepare photographs to be on display the final weekend in January. The show closed this evening, but many faculty, students, and parent took the time out of their Sunday afternoon to attend. With over 70 students in photography classes, there were many different styles and images to see. Students are in classes ranging from Photography 1 to first and second year IB, and Advanced Placement sections.
It took all day on Friday to get this show organized and up, but it took only about 30 minutes to take down! A time lapse shot by Faculty member Brendan Shea gives you an idea of the final hours of the 2015 photography show.
Photographic Mandalas
Photo illustrator Lee Varis defines a Photo-Mandala as a "reflectively symmetrical composition that is generated from one or more straight photographs". The AP Photo students experimented with his techniques recently and out of photographs of houses, the campus, trees, and pumpkins the images below were created.
Christmas Ceramics Exhibition
Don't miss the Christmas ceramics exhibition in the Şahenk Arts Center. The exhibition includes terra cotta animals and figures inspired by Henry Moore make by the Middle School art students and also stoneware ceramics by the High School ceramic students.
